Description
Elevate your coffee experience with this beautifully crafted, high-quality varnished Gaggia Classic steam knob made from high-quality American Walnut, Olive or Ash. Not only will it add a touch of warmth to your coffee machine, but it will also provide a comfortable grip for easy steaming.
These exquisite wooden steam knobs, designed and crafted exclusively by us, utilize the same wood supplier as our portafilter handles.
Compatibility
- Gaggia Classic Pro
- Gaggia Classic Evo
- Gaggia Classic E24
- Gaggia RI9403
Each unit is designed with durability and ease of maintenance in mind, making it an ideal addition for any of these Gaggia Classic models.
Enjoy your color!
This steam knob comes in four different color options Ash-three, Olive, American Walnut, and Black, allowing you to choose the perfect match for your machine and style.
Also, the steam knob is available in two different types; stripped and normal.
Please note that as this product is made from natural materials, there may be some slight variation in color and grain pattern. However, we ensure that each piece is of the highest quality, so you can enjoy a unique and beautiful addition to your coffee setup. While we make every effort to safeguard the wood from damage, as commercially manufactured wooden handles, they may occasionally have minor imperfections – though this, of course, does not affect performance.
Installation
Our wooden steam knobs, like the standard plastic steam knob, utilize a D shaft fitment. It’s crucial to orient the knob correctly with respect to the flat and curved sides of the shaft – and while our knob may be slightly more distinguishable than the standard one, they both install in the same manner: the FLAT portion of the steam valve shaft should align with the flat plastic portion of the socket; and the flat metal spring inside the knob should align with the CURVED side of the shaft.
Firm pressure is required for installation, to initially push the knob on. Always ensure that the flat metal spring is present within the steam knob (whether ours or the standard Gaggia one) before installation.
They can be easily pushed on and pulled off as needed, just like the original knob. There are no permanent fixtures, no unsightly grub screws that might come loose and require re-tightening, or any other fixings to concern yourself with.
Materials
High-quality wood; American Walnut, Ash-tree, Olive
Cleaning
It is recommended to clean wooden products with a slightly damp cloth (no soap). For product maintenance, it is suggested to use natural wood oils.
Satisfaction guarantee
At Papel Espresso, our commitment extends beyond your purchase. The products are backed by a promise of unwavering support.
Please note that the product listing includes only the drip tray itself; any other items shown in product imagery are for illustrative purposes only. For additional accessories, please explore the range of products available under the Gaggia category.

The original knob on my Gaggia Classic has always bothered me — this premium knob looks – and feels – way better than the original. I’ve paired my black Gaggia with the Olive knob and couldn’t be happier! Thanks.

Excellent item! I was slightly concerned that this wouldn’t fit my 2002 Gaggia Classic (especially after seeing so many more recent Pro machines in the reviews here) but I need not have worried! It fits my machine perfectly and actually helped resolve an annoying issue with my steam valve not closing 100% due to wear and tear on my old plastic knob (hence needing a replacement) so I’m very happy with this item!
Although it doesn’t fit the 2002 Classic which uses a screw to adjust pressure, the seller did kindly include a 9-bar OPV spring as a free gift which was a nice gesture. Excellent service!

Absolutely beautiful. An easy install, with Allen wrench included, and really dresses up the Gaggia Classic Pro, whose stock black plastic knob is something of a tactile letdown. Shockingly fast delivery to the USA, too — I was quite impressed!

Although this knob looked great on my Gaggia Evo Pro, while trying to put this on my machine I caused the steam knob to seize up. I learned a valuable lesson to never mod out my espresso machine. At least take it to someone who has expertise in doing such things.

The quality is close to perfect! The fit of the hole could be a bit tighter but that’s nitpicking.

Vincent Lee Verified purchase
The knob shipped pretty quickly and I got it the following week. It fits great on the machine and works as intended
twhipcat Verified purchase
The wood is very nice and the finish is excellent, but the design is sadly flawed. The Gaggia mount is a metal D stem, and the knob was drilled with a simple round hole with a screw to tighten. This creates 2 issues: 1, when tightened the knob shifts and is no longer straight, and 2, the screw faces front and is not as attractive as the rest of the wood. The cost is fine and the wood is lovely, but a bit more engineering would really help to make this more useful. For now, we went back to the OEM plastic until we can figue out a better system.

The wooden knob is beautiful. It will compliment your machine wonderfully.
Edit: offer a few months of use the 3d printed insert melted and it doesn’t work anymore. I had to start using the original knob. The shop owner has reached out about replacing it. If you have a similar issue please send them a message!

Another fantastic item offered by Papel Espresso! The knob matched beautifully with the feet and offers a far more pleasant steaming experience as the standard plastic one felt cheap and flimsy. Also, the knob sits well in place, and the included grub screw ensures a secure fit. Far more secure than the original. Awesome stuff! Thank you so much!

Product fit my Gaggia Classic well. It looks great. Shipping was quick.
grahamhaug Verified purchase
Good quality addition to the Classic and matches my new portafilter handle. One I guess “wish” I have is that the screw would be slightly less visible, but this has bothered me less and less as time has gone on and I don’t think there’s anywhere else to put it, considering how the screw knob in general is attached to the Classic. It looks great.
