Quick geometry lesson: Hypotrochoids and epitrochoids are curves defined by tracing a point attached to a circle that’s rolling along the inside or outside of a fixed circle, respectively. Spirographs use this concept to create mesmerizing geometric patterns.

The Papel WDT™ employs 15 needles, each with a 0.30mm diameter, to trace dozens of hypotrochoids and epitrochoids through the mounded coffee grounds in your 49mm, 54mm, 57mm and 58mm portafilter basket. This mechanical motion distributes and fluffs the grounds in seconds, ensuring consistency no matter how early in the morning it is. The increased needle count, compared to competitors, enhances distribution performance, elevating your espresso enjoyment.

The Papel WDT™ features a perfect gear design that mixes, distributes, and the coffee grounds in your portafilter in just three spins. Four separate gears come together in an optimized fashion.

How to use the tool:

1. The tool comes with 15 needles pre-inserted into the gear holes.
2. Fill your portafilter with espresso grounds, place the tool on top, and give it 3 spins.
3. Remove the tool from the basket, place it in its stand, tamp your grounds, and brew some espresso.

✔️Compatibility:

Currently, the base is designed to fit 58mm portafilters with two flanges. If you have a different type or size of portafilter, please contact us. We plan to offer additional options to increase compatibility in the future, so let us know what you’re using.
